This 7mm platinum wedding band is a big chunk of platinum, perfect for a man’s wedding ring.

Simple and elegant, this 7mm platinum wedding band is made from scratch. Dan starts by melting the platinum into an ingot and then hand-rolls the ingot into this particular size and width. He fusion-welds the band, then forms the ring and hard-rolls it for durability. Finally, the ring is finished to a high polish. Because the metal is cold worked, hand forged bands like this one are denser and stronger than bands that are cast.

One of the noblest of metals, platinum has a wear characteristic that outlasts gold 10x to 1x. We use an alloy that is 95% platinum and 5% ruthenium in our platinum jewelry.

Platinum has an extremely high melting point (3236 degrees F), so working with raw platinum requires a big torch, dark glasses, and lots of fire. In the final pictures, you can see Dan pouring an ingot of platinum and preparing the ingot for hand milling it into ring stock.
