Working with molten platinum is a specialized skill not widely practiced any more. Dan will pour an ingot (bar) of platinum and hard roll the ingot to form two rings: two rings formed from the same pool of platinum.

The larger band pictured is made from hand-milled stock that is 6mm wide and 2mm thick. The stock of the smaller band is 3mm wide and 2mm thick. Both bands are finished in the comfort fit style, where the inner edges of the band “taper” or “roll” to the outer edge.

One of the noblest of metals, platinum has a wear characteristic that outlasts gold 10x to 1x. We use an alloy that is 95% platinum and 5% ruthenium for our platinum jewelry.

Dan hammers the center of the bands in our “waterfall” hammering style, with an effect tending toward a ripple of light rather than the multi-directional scatter of light created by hammering in typical bands. The textured bevel creates sparkle in other directions for added dimension.
